1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Information you provide: When you fill out forms, create an account, request a quote, or contact us, you may provide your name, email address, phone number, company name, and shipping/billing addresses.
  • Order information: When placing orders through our catalog system, we collect necessary transaction details to fulfill your order.
  • Voluntary tool usage: When using interactive tools like our Ice Melt Need Meter™, you may voluntarily enter a ZIP code to receive weather-based recommendations.

What we DON'T collect: We do not collect data through third-party analytics services. We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any external tracking scripts that send your data to other companies.

2. Cookie Transparency

We believe you should know exactly what cookies are on your device and why. Here's our complete cookie inventory:

No Third-Party Tracking Cookies: We do not use any advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or analytics cookies from external services. Your browsing behavior on our site stays on our site.

3. Web Server Logs

Like virtually all websites, our web server automatically creates log files. This is standard functionality of web server software (Nginx/Apache) and includes:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • Date and time of the request
  • Page or resource requested
  • HTTP response status code
  • Referring URL (if any)
  • Browser type and operating system

How we use server logs:

  • Diagnosing technical issues and errors
  • Protecting against malicious activity and attacks
  • Understanding general traffic patterns (in aggregate, not individually)

In-House Analytics Only: We analyze our server logs internally. This data is never sent to Google, Adobe, or any external analytics platform. Your visit data stays on our servers.

4. Third-Party Data Sharing

We are committed to keeping your data private. Here's exactly who has access to what:

You
DeSantis Solutions
Afflink
(Orders only)

Afflink Partnership: When you place an order through our online catalog, your order information is shared with Afflink, our shopping cart and catalog provider. They process this data solely to submit orders into our ERP system. Afflink does not use your data for marketing or share it with others.

We DO NOT:

  • Sell your personal information to anyone
  • Share your data with advertising networks
  • Provide your information to data brokers
  • Use third-party analytics that track you across the web

5. Interactive Tools & Features

Ice Melt Need Meter™ and Weather Tools:

When you use our Ice Melt Need Meter or similar weather-based tools, you voluntarily enter a ZIP code. Here's how that works:

  • Your ZIP code is sent to Open-Meteo, a free weather API, to retrieve forecast data
  • The weather data is processed in your browser to generate recommendations
  • We do not store your ZIP code or associate it with your identity
  • No location data is saved on our servers from tool usage

Voluntary Use: You choose to enter location information. These tools work entirely on-demand and do not track your location automatically.

6. Email Communications

When you provide your email address (through contact forms, account creation, or newsletter signup), we may use it to:

  • Respond to your inquiries
  • Send order confirmations and invoices
  • Provide account-related notifications
  • Occasionally send promotional offers (with your consent)

Your Control: Every promotional email includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time, and we honor all requests promptly. Transactional emails (order confirmations, etc.) will continue as they are necessary for service delivery.

7. Data Security

We implement multiple layers of security to protect your information:

  • SSL/TLS Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard protocols.
  • Access Controls: Only authorized personnel can access personal data, and access is limited to what's necessary for their role.
  • Regular Updates: We keep our systems patched and updated to protect against known vulnerabilities.
  • Secure Hosting: Our infrastructure is hosted in secure data centers with physical and network security measures.

While we take security seriously and implement reasonable safeguards, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your data to the best of our ability.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Ask us to update or correct inaccurate information
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time
  • Questions: Contact us with any privacy-related concerns

To exercise any of these rights, simply contact us using the information below. We respond to all requests within 30 days.
